Narrative:
Talking to approach, was cleared for visual approach. Radar service was cancelled and I was switched to tower. I squawked 1200 and was then told that approach had 'lost' me. They said radar was cancelled but not my IFR so I shouldn't have squawked VFR.

Title: C206 CFI IS ADVISED THAT APCH CTL 'LOST HIS TARGET' ON RADAR AFTER RPTR HAD SWITCHED TO 1200 XPONDER CODE AFTER BEING CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO JQF, NC.
Narrative: TALKING TO APCH, WAS CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH. RADAR SVC WAS CANCELLED AND I WAS SWITCHED TO TWR. I SQUAWKED 1200 AND WAS THEN TOLD THAT APCH HAD 'LOST' ME. THEY SAID RADAR WAS CANCELLED BUT NOT MY IFR SO I SHOULDN'T HAVE SQUAWKED VFR.
