Narrative:
The #1 engine generator was written up as inoperative. The aircraft was worked on the night before. We pushed back and started the engines. We left the APU running per the MEL. On taxi out the left engine quit. We came back to the gate and changed airplanes.

Title: L ENG ON B738 FAILS SHORTLY AFTER ENG START.
Narrative: THE #1 ENG GENERATOR WAS WRITTEN UP AS INOP. THE ACFT WAS WORKED ON THE NIGHT BEFORE. WE PUSHED BACK AND STARTED THE ENGS. WE LEFT THE APU RUNNING PER THE MEL. ON TAXI OUT THE L ENG QUIT. WE CAME BACK TO THE GATE AND CHANGED AIRPLANES.
