Narrative:

Uneventful takeoff made. On checking in with jfk departure control, departure notified crew that on takeoff roll another flight crew stated that flight may have lost a tire on takeoff roll. No indications of damage were noted to either engines, airframe, or system. Advised dispatch of event and after consultation with maintenance controller, decision was made to proceed to and land at mia due to the amount of fuel on the aircraft, and that a very high overweight landing would have to be accomplished to recover at jfk. After checking aircraft and system again, flight proceeded to mia uneventfully. An emergency was declared with mia approach, and an uneventful landing accomplished. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the captain reported there was flap damage from the failed retread cap. There was no damage to the engines. The #7 tire retread came off the tire during takeoff roll.
