Narrative:

After repeated calls to ground from a 'spot' on the ramp we concluded that the procedure was to move onto taxiway and then contact ground control. This apparently is not correct. There was no conflict with other aircraft. This situation was caused by: 1) lack of response from controller (assuming he could hear our 6 or 7 calls on an apparently working radio. A simple 'standby' would suffice). 2) overly complex, multi-page taxi instructions at dfw. 3) crew unfamiliar with dfw procedures.

Title: CRJ-700 AT DFW DEPARTS RAMP SPOT AND BEGINS TAXI WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: AFTER REPEATED CALLS TO GND FROM A 'SPOT' ON THE RAMP WE CONCLUDED THAT THE PROC WAS TO MOVE ONTO TXWY AND THEN CONTACT GND CTL. THIS APPARENTLY IS NOT CORRECT. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT. THIS SIT WAS CAUSED BY: 1) LACK OF RESPONSE FROM CTLR (ASSUMING HE COULD HEAR OUR 6 OR 7 CALLS ON AN APPARENTLY WORKING RADIO. A SIMPLE 'STANDBY' WOULD SUFFICE). 2) OVERLY COMPLEX, MULTI-PAGE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AT DFW. 3) CREW UNFAMILIAR WITH DFW PROCS.
