Narrative:
Flight from honolulu to burbank, cruising altitude of FL390. Low oil quantity was discovered 59 NM from eglin. Oil temperature started to rise. Decision was made to turn around back to honolulu. We were approximately 320 NM from ete. Decision was made to shut down the left engine because of high oil temperature. All appropriate checks were used from boeing B737 operational manual, non normal checklist.

Title: A B737 EXPERIENCED LOW OIL QTY AND HIGH OIL TEMP WHILE ENRTE FROM HNL TO BUR. THEY SHUT DOWN THE ENG AND RETURNED TO HNL.
Narrative: FLT FROM HONOLULU TO BURBANK, CRUISING ALT OF FL390. LOW OIL QUANTITY WAS DISCOVERED 59 NM FROM EGLIN. OIL TEMP STARTED TO RISE. DECISION WAS MADE TO TURN AROUND BACK TO HONOLULU.
