Narrative:
On landing rollout, tower controller instructed us to exit runway to the left at taxiway at end of runway. We were attempting to taxi toward that taxiway when controller cleared an aircraft on that taxiway into position on runway. We were blocked at that point, as was the aircraft awaiting takeoff. Resolved situation by taxiing down runway 180 degrees and exiting. I think the controller goofed.
