Narrative:
To get straight to the point I violated far 91.103. I violated the part where it says that you are supposed to check WX and be familiar with all available information including NOTAMS. I was going to make a routine VFR flight 30 mi southeast to a town. I had flown in and out of the town and oxford the day before and didn't even think that there would be a temporary tower at oxford since it is an uncontrolled field. The catch is that on game days the traffic volume is enough to provide for a tower. Although this game had a tower and the other games did not attract enough air traffic to provide for a tower, I did not call FSS to make sure. I went out to the airport to leave before the game ended. I taxied and took off without calling the temporary tower. I thought about it 15 mins later when I landed. I immediately called FSS, and they confirmed my suspicions. The point is that no matter where you're going or how far, a pilot should always call FSS not only for far reasons but for safety reasons. Even though I knew that the WX was good VFR I still should have made a 3 min call.

Title: REGULAR FLYER OUT OF UOX FAILED TO CONTACT FSS BEFORE FLYING SHORT OUT AND BACK TRIP. HAD HE DONE SO, HE WOULD HAVE LEARNED THE NORMALLY UNCTLED ARPT HAD A TEMPORARY TWR THAT DAY ON ACCOUNT INCREASED TFC AS A RESULT OF FLY IN ATTENDEES FOR A NEARBY UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL GAME.
