Narrative:
Upon a line service check on the night of oct/sat/03 we found the #3 main landing gear brake worn to limits. We replaced the brake in accordance with amm 32-41-41-4. We inspected and reinstalled the tire that was on the aircraft, no damage or discrepancies noted. The tire rotated freely while installing the axle nut. We released the aircraft in the morning for flight. The aircraft flew to with no discrepancies. The crew wrote up high brake temperature at ZZZ1 for the #3 brake. This is not unusual at ZZZ1 due to the short runways. ZZZ1 maintenance inspected the brake/rim/tire in accordance with fim 32-46-00 with no problems noted. Aircraft was released into service. The aircraft flew ZZZ1-ZZZ3 where it was to remain overnight. The crew once again wrote up the #3 brake for high temperature. ZZZ3 maintenance inspected the tire with no problems noted. Maintenance control opted to replace the brake and tire assembly due to the temperature problems. ZZZ3 maintenance reported to maintenance control that the wheel and brake assembly had to be removed as one unit due to the 2 inboard brake show slots being damaged and the wheel assembly brake guides having some damage on them. Also, the damage was detected after they removed the brake and wheel assembly. ZZZ3 maintenance reported to maintenance control that the damage was done when the brake was installed. I disagree that the problem occurred during installation. I believe that this problem occurred during the course of normal service. We have had brake shudder and hot brake problems on these aircraft for the past 2 yrs with a couple of new brakes from stock being bad from stock. ZZZ3 maintenance replaced the brake and wheel assembly and released the aircraft for service in the morning. No additional high brake temperature write-ups have been recorded on the #3 brake at this time. This incident did not cause any flight delays or safety of flight issues and all maintenance manuals were documented and followed per all logbook entries. I attribute this issue to a component failure and have addressed the issue with my manager.

THE CREW ONCE AGAIN WROTE UP THE #3 BRAKE FOR HIGH TEMP. ZZZ3 MAINT INSPECTED THE TIRE WITH NO PROBS NOTED. MAINT CTL OPTED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE AND TIRE ASSEMBLY DUE TO THE TEMP PROBS. ZZZ3 MAINT RPTED TO MAINT CTL THAT THE WHEEL AND BRAKE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REMOVED AS ONE UNIT DUE TO THE 2 INBOARD BRAKE SHOW SLOTS BEING DAMAGED AND THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY BRAKE GUIDES HAVING SOME DAMAGE ON THEM. ALSO, THE DAMAGE WAS DETECTED AFTER THEY REMOVED THE BRAKE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY. ZZZ3 MAINT RPTED TO MAINT CTL THAT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS INSTALLED. I DISAGREE THAT THE PROB OCCURRED DURING INSTALLATION. I BELIEVE THAT THIS PROB OCCURRED DURING THE COURSE OF NORMAL SVC. WE HAVE HAD BRAKE SHUDDER AND HOT BRAKE PROBS ON THESE ACFT FOR THE PAST 2 YRS WITH A COUPLE OF NEW BRAKES FROM STOCK BEING BAD FROM STOCK. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT CAUSE ANY FLT DELAYS OR SAFETY OF FLT ISSUES AND ALL MAINT MANUALS WERE DOCUMENTED AND FOLLOWED PER ALL LOGBOOK ENTRIES. I ATTRIBUTE THIS ISSUE TO A COMPONENT FAILURE AND HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE WITH MY MGR.
