Narrative:
While flying from cambridge, md, to stafford, va, I was informed I had inadvertently penetrated the washington ADIZ. This supposedly occurred north of dahlgren (ndy). Upon landing at rmn the airport gave me a message to call potomac approach. That was when I was officially informed that I had penetrated the ADIZ. The ADIZ in that area does not follow the class B lines as it does everywhere else. I have often filed ADIZ flight plans when necessary and can tell our position relative to the ADIZ from the map, which depicts the class B. In this area no map designates the ADIZ arc, this must be judged in flight. In the future I will give a wide clearance to the ADIZ when not filing an ADIZ flight plan, but if the ADIZ continues even 1 week more it must be depicted on the current aeronautical charts as it is in the washington, dc metropolitan area.

Title: A BELL 206 ROTARY WINGED PLT INADVERTENTLY ENTERS THE DC ADIZ NEAR HIS DEP ARPT AT NDY, VA.

IN THIS AREA NO MAP DESIGNATES THE ADIZ ARC, THIS MUST BE JUDGED IN FLT. IN THE FUTURE I WILL GIVE A WIDE CLRNC TO THE ADIZ WHEN NOT FILING AN ADIZ FLT PLAN, BUT IF THE ADIZ CONTINUES EVEN 1 WK MORE IT MUST BE DEPICTED ON THE CURRENT AERONAUTICAL CHARTS AS IT IS IN THE WASHINGTON, DC METROPOLITAN AREA.
