Narrative:
Tonight was the second time, on a long all-night flight from ZZZ to new york, where there was a revenue passenger in the seat next to the crew rest seat. In one case, it was a large man that kept moving and his arms and shoulders were over my seat, moving all the time with loud snoring. Last night, it was a regular size man, but he kept making abrupt movements every 10 seconds and since the 2 seats are connected, it was impossible to sleep in my seat. When I returned to the cockpit, after not getting one min of sleep, I was not a safe pilot. My reactions were slow, my thinking was slow and I was irritated. I did not perform as I would expect myself or any other professional pilot to perform. Revenue should not be more important than safety and this is a severe safety issue that can easily be corrected. Supplemental information from acn 598692: proximity of seat prevents proper crew rest when seat is occupied due to normal passenger movement, use of dvd's by passenger, meal services, footrest extensions and retractions, etc. Seat also blocked from normal egress when seat footrest is extended hindering timely access to cockpit in case of abnormal sits including aircraft emergencys and various threat levels to cockpit.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B767-300 RPTS INADEQUATE REST ON LONG OVERWATER FLTS DUE TO CREW REST SEAT LOCATED NEXT TO OCCUPIED PAX SEAT.
Narrative: TONIGHT WAS THE SECOND TIME, ON A LONG ALL-NIGHT FLT FROM ZZZ TO NEW YORK, WHERE THERE WAS A REVENUE PAX IN THE SEAT NEXT TO THE CREW REST SEAT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE COCKPIT, AFTER NOT GETTING ONE MIN OF SLEEP, I WAS NOT A SAFE PLT. MY REACTIONS WERE SLOW, MY THINKING WAS SLOW AND I WAS IRRITATED. I DID NOT PERFORM AS I WOULD EXPECT MYSELF OR ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL PLT TO PERFORM. REVENUE SHOULD NOT BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAFETY AND THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN EASILY BE CORRECTED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 598692: PROX OF SEAT PREVENTS PROPER CREW REST WHEN SEAT IS OCCUPIED DUE TO NORMAL PAX MOVEMENT, USE OF DVD'S BY PAX, MEAL SVCS, FOOTREST EXTENSIONS AND RETRACTIONS, ETC. SEAT ALSO BLOCKED FROM NORMAL EGRESS WHEN SEAT FOOTREST IS EXTENDED HINDERING TIMELY ACCESS TO COCKPIT IN CASE OF ABNORMAL SITS INCLUDING ACFT EMERS AND VARIOUS THREAT LEVELS TO COCKPIT.
