Narrative:
During a postflt walkaround, I've noticed that, one of the main landing gear tire pressure 'appear' to be low. I've never had a flat tire in my career so I was not expecting one. I had a set of new tires. The landing was good and no heavy braking was applied. We (flight crews) assume it was low, called maintenance control and they suggest to put some air into it. We do not have a local contractor with maintenance at that airport but our maintenance control told me that we did not need to put on the book, because we were just putting some air into the tire. Our maintenance control assumed what was the initial pressure on that tire. After I've told him they said to just put some air into it. After I landed at my destination, the tire still appeared to be low. Our maintenance crews took the pressure of that tire and told me that it was flat. I'm a pilot, not a mechanic. When they say that it is good to go, I'm going. From now on, I'll not trust our maintenance control no more, especially when they ask me not to put it on the book.

Title: AN MD83 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A MAIN LNDG GEAR TIRE PRESSURE OUT OF LIMITS. TIRE SVCED WITH NO LOGBOOK ENTRY. NEXT FLT ON LNDG TIRE FOUND FLAT.
Narrative: DURING A POSTFLT WALKAROUND, I'VE NOTICED THAT, ONE OF THE MAIN LNDG GEAR TIRE PRESSURE 'APPEAR' TO BE LOW. I'VE NEVER HAD A FLAT TIRE IN MY CAREER SO I WAS NOT EXPECTING ONE. I HAD A SET OF NEW TIRES. THE LNDG WAS GOOD AND NO HVY BRAKING WAS APPLIED. WE (FLT CREWS) ASSUME IT WAS LOW, CALLED MAINT CTL AND THEY SUGGEST TO PUT SOME AIR INTO IT. WE DO NOT HAVE A LCL CONTRACTOR WITH MAINT AT THAT ARPT BUT OUR MAINT CTL TOLD ME THAT WE DID NOT NEED TO PUT ON THE BOOK, BECAUSE WE WERE JUST PUTTING SOME AIR INTO THE TIRE. OUR MAINT CTL ASSUMED WHAT WAS THE INITIAL PRESSURE ON THAT TIRE. AFTER I'VE TOLD HIM THEY SAID TO JUST PUT SOME AIR INTO IT. AFTER I LANDED AT MY DEST, THE TIRE STILL APPEARED TO BE LOW. OUR MAINT CREWS TOOK THE PRESSURE OF THAT TIRE AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS FLAT. I'M A PLT, NOT A MECH. WHEN THEY SAY THAT IT IS GOOD TO GO, I'M GOING.
