Narrative:

I was the captain on a repositioning of a B767 aircraft from the hangar to gate X at the terminal. Upon leaving the hangar, ground control gave us instructions, 'right on txwys C, Z, right, B1, hold short B.' the first officer copied the clearance, but missed taxiway Z on the readback. We proceeded to txwys C, right, B1, to hold short of taxiway B. When we had crossed runway 28R, ground control told us to call tower when we got to the gate for a possible taxi deviation. I looked down runway 10L/28R when we were crossing and it looked like there might possibly be an aircraft waiting for takeoff when talking to the mod. On the phone in the tower, he said that an rj was actually landing and on rollout at taxi speed. At the time of our crossing, the rj had no problem with us crossing a ways down the runway. I need to be more diligent on copying the clearance myself and not relying so much on the first officer.

Title: B767 FLT CREW CROSSED RWY WITHOUT CLRNC AT SFO DURING REPOSITIONING OPS.

Narrative: I WAS THE CAPT ON A REPOSITIONING OF A B767 ACFT FROM THE HANGAR TO GATE X AT THE TERMINAL. UPON LEAVING THE HANGAR, GND CTL GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS, 'R ON TXWYS C, Z, R, B1, HOLD SHORT B.' THE FO COPIED THE CLRNC, BUT MISSED TXWY Z ON THE READBACK. WE PROCEEDED TO TXWYS C, R, B1, TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY B. WHEN WE HAD CROSSED RWY 28R, GND CTL TOLD US TO CALL TWR WHEN WE GOT TO THE GATE FOR A POSSIBLE TAXI DEV. I LOOKED DOWN RWY 10L/28R WHEN WE WERE XING AND IT LOOKED LIKE THERE MIGHT POSSIBLY BE AN ACFT WAITING FOR TKOF WHEN TALKING TO THE MOD. ON THE PHONE IN THE TWR, HE SAID THAT AN RJ WAS ACTUALLY LNDG AND ON ROLLOUT AT TAXI SPD. AT THE TIME OF OUR XING, THE RJ HAD NO PROB WITH US XING A WAYS DOWN THE RWY. I NEED TO BE MORE DILIGENT ON COPYING THE CLRNC MYSELF AND NOT RELYING SO MUCH ON THE FO.
