Narrative:
After landing at yyz on runway 23, we were cleared by ground control to 'cross RWY33L, txwys, G, east, and hold short of taxiway right.' we misinterpreted this and taxied txwys G, north, B short of taxiway right. We visually cleared crossing runway 33R before crossing, but were technically not verbally cleared to cross this inactive/closed runway. There was no conflict and ground control had no comment in this regard, probably because runway 33R was an inactive/closed runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLT CREW OF F100 FAIL TO FOLLOW TAXI CLRNC AT CYYS AND CROSS CLOSED RWY WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT YYZ ON RWY 23, WE WERE CLRED BY GND CTL TO 'CROSS RWY33L, TXWYS, G, E, AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY R.' WE MISINTERPRETED THIS AND TAXIED TXWYS G, N, B SHORT OF TXWY R. WE VISUALLY CLRED XING RWY 33R BEFORE XING, BUT WERE TECHNICALLY NOT VERBALLY CLRED TO CROSS THIS INACTIVE/CLOSED RWY. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT AND GND CTL HAD NO COMMENT IN THIS REGARD, PROBABLY BECAUSE RWY 33R WAS AN INACTIVE/CLOSED RWY.
