Narrative:
Dec/fri/03, I was in command of flight from ZZZ to ZZZ1. I had the aircraft deiced at the gate for the flight to ZZZ1, type 4 deice fluid was applied to the aircraft. The first officer and I had a discussion about if MEL 29-77 was needed. I contacted ZZZ operations and asked them to contact ZZZ maintenance control about this issue. I also contacted ZZZ dispatch via ACARS and asked if MEL 29-77 was needed. The reply from dispatch was no MEL required, however I may have had a breakdown in communications with dispatch. A logbook entry had been made for deice with type 4 fluid then changed to (entered in error) based on dispatch's response. I do not recall if MEL 27-99 placard was installed. I did not hear back from maintenance control. The flight was made to ZZZ, nothing abnormal was noted.
