Narrative:
Departed bismarck, nd, VFR for fergus falls, mn (ffm). Arrived ffm to total cloud cover. Went back towards fargo. Contacted approach and declared emergency needing help to land. 600 ft layer at far, also dark. Approach controller set me up on long final, descending through cloud layer. Landed without incident. Made phone call to tower.
