Narrative:
Started takeoff roll on runway 36R at XA09. Our weight was 426000 pounds and the wind was at 330 degrees 28 KTS. To power with no derate and packs off was used because of cdl requirements. Speed bugs were 124, 132, 143 KTS. At approximately 115 KTS the bugs went blank on the pfd and CDU. Because of the low ground speed and much runway remaining, I aborted the takeoff. The speed brakes did not deploy and I was unable to disengage the rejected takeoff autobraking by depressing the brake pedals. I reached over and turned the autobrake selector to off. Other than this I thought the abort went smoothly. Maintenance checked the gear and found the brakes okay. They did find that the 'air ground sensors' were out of calibration, which probably caused all of the malfunctions.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B777 ABORTED TKOF AT 115 KTS DUE TO PRIMARY FLT DISPLAY AND CTL DISPLAY UNIT FAILURES. ACFT FOUND INFLT MODE.
Narrative: STARTED TKOF ROLL ON RWY 36R AT XA09. OUR WT WAS 426000 LBS AND THE WIND WAS AT 330 DEGS 28 KTS. TO PWR WITH NO DERATE AND PACKS OFF WAS USED BECAUSE OF CDL REQUIREMENTS. SPD BUGS WERE 124, 132, 143 KTS. AT APPROX 115 KTS THE BUGS WENT BLANK ON THE PFD AND CDU. BECAUSE OF THE LOW GND SPD AND MUCH RWY REMAINING, I ABORTED THE TKOF. THE SPD BRAKES DID NOT DEPLOY AND I WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE RTO AUTOBRAKING BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDALS. I REACHED OVER AND TURNED THE AUTOBRAKE SELECTOR TO OFF. OTHER THAN THIS I THOUGHT THE ABORT WENT SMOOTHLY. MAINT CHKED THE GEAR AND FOUND THE BRAKES OKAY. THEY DID FIND THAT THE 'AIR GND SENSORS' WERE OUT OF CALIBRATION, WHICH PROBABLY CAUSED ALL OF THE MALFUNCTIONS.
