Narrative:

Departed ZZZ. Total trim failure. Declared emergency. Return land at ZZZ. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the pitch trim was inoperative from both captain's and copilot's yoke switches. The reporter said we were not aware if autoplt trim was operative as it was not connected. The reporter stated after landing maintenance checked out the system operational and self tests were ok and aircraft was returned to service. The reporter said an overweight inspection was accomplished and the flight was dispatched. The reporter stated the airplane was an overnight layover and no work was performed on graveyard shift, but the stabilizer actuators may have cold soaked as the temperature was low. The reporter said the control functions were normal prior to takeoff.

Title: AN EMBRAER 140 IN TKOF CLB DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO TOTAL LOSS OF STABILIZER TRIM. LANDED OVERWT.

Narrative: DEPARTED ZZZ. TOTAL TRIM FAILURE. DECLARED EMER. RETURN LAND AT ZZZ. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE PITCH TRIM WAS INOP FROM BOTH CAPT'S AND COPLT'S YOKE SWITCHES. THE RPTR SAID WE WERE NOT AWARE IF AUTOPLT TRIM WAS OPERATIVE AS IT WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE RPTR STATED AFTER LNDG MAINT CHKED OUT THE SYS OPERATIONAL AND SELF TESTS WERE OK AND ACFT WAS RETURNED TO SVC. THE RPTR SAID AN OVERWT INSPECTION WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND THE FLT WAS DISPATCHED. THE RPTR STATED THE AIRPLANE WAS AN OVERNIGHT LAYOVER AND NO WORK WAS PERFORMED ON GRAVEYARD SHIFT, BUT THE STABILIZER ACTUATORS MAY HAVE COLD SOAKED AS THE TEMP WAS LOW. THE RPTR SAID THE CTL FUNCTIONS WERE NORMAL PRIOR TO TKOF.
