Narrative:

After landing on runway 36L at clt and on rollout, tower gave us taxi instructions 'to clear at taxiway E6 and then use taxiway E-12 and contact ramp control.' the captain acknowledged the transmission and read it back during a busy, noisy phase of deceleration with reversers out. We cleared at taxiway E6 and I xferred control to the captain and we entered the ramp at the taxiway E-14. During taxi in on ramp control, ground advised us of the fact that we had entered taxiway E-14 instead of taxiway E-12, as requested. The captain and I had both understood that we should enter the ramp normally at taxiway E-14. There was no traffic conflict.

Title: CL-65 CREW WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR RWY EXIT AND RAMP ENTRY AT THE BUSIEST, NOISIEST POINT OF RWY DECELERATION. THE CREW ENTERED THE RAMP AREA AT A POINT NOT APPROVED BY ATC.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 36L AT CLT AND ON ROLLOUT, TWR GAVE US TAXI INSTRUCTIONS 'TO CLR AT TXWY E6 AND THEN USE TXWY E-12 AND CONTACT RAMP CTL.' THE CAPT ACKNOWLEDGED THE XMISSION AND READ IT BACK DURING A BUSY, NOISY PHASE OF DECELERATION WITH REVERSERS OUT. WE CLRED AT TXWY E6 AND I XFERRED CTL TO THE CAPT AND WE ENTERED THE RAMP AT THE TXWY E-14. DURING TAXI IN ON RAMP CTL, GND ADVISED US OF THE FACT THAT WE HAD ENTERED TXWY E-14 INSTEAD OF TXWY E-12, AS REQUESTED. THE CAPT AND I HAD BOTH UNDERSTOOD THAT WE SHOULD ENTER THE RAMP NORMALLY AT TXWY E-14. THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT.
