Narrative:
About 30 mins before landing, purser told us that captain said to put everything away due to upcoming WX. In the process of doing so, he came over the PA and said 'flight attendants prepare for landing.' to us this means accomplish cabin check, put everything away and situation down. While doing all these, he came on the PA again and said 'flight attendants situation down.' I was in the first class galley, when we suddenly dropped and shook sideways violently. I came off my feet and hit the galley counter, ripping off my shirt and scratching and bruising my right arm from which I was bleeding. Also, while trying to hold on to the jumpseat, I bent the tip of my middle fingernail in my left hand. This lasted a few seconds. I managed to strap to a jumpseat. After sitting down, we could hear hail, or frozen rain, hitting the aircraft. This was pretty loud, especially in the forward part of the aircraft. After landing, we went to medical to be checked. It's my understanding that the captain reported this incident as moderate turbulence, but we all think it was pretty severe. Severe enough to take a few flight attendants off their feet. Captain could have communicated with us much better.

Title: A B767 FLT ATTENDANT RPTED THAT HE WAS INJURED DURING AN ENCOUNTER WITH TURB.
Narrative: ABOUT 30 MINS BEFORE LNDG, PURSER TOLD US THAT CAPT SAID TO PUT EVERYTHING AWAY DUE TO UPCOMING WX. IN THE PROCESS OF DOING SO, HE CAME OVER THE PA AND SAID 'FLT ATTENDANTS PREPARE FOR LNDG.' TO US THIS MEANS ACCOMPLISH CABIN CHK, PUT EVERYTHING AWAY AND SIT DOWN. WHILE DOING ALL THESE, HE CAME ON THE PA AGAIN AND SAID 'FLT ATTENDANTS SIT DOWN.' I WAS IN THE FIRST CLASS GALLEY, WHEN WE SUDDENLY DROPPED AND SHOOK SIDEWAYS VIOLENTLY. I CAME OFF MY FEET AND HIT THE GALLEY COUNTER, RIPPING OFF MY SHIRT AND SCRATCHING AND BRUISING MY R ARM FROM WHICH I WAS BLEEDING. ALSO, WHILE TRYING TO HOLD ON TO THE JUMPSEAT, I BENT THE TIP OF MY MIDDLE FINGERNAIL IN MY L HAND. THIS LASTED A FEW SECONDS. I MANAGED TO STRAP TO A JUMPSEAT. AFTER SITTING DOWN, WE COULD HEAR HAIL, OR FROZEN RAIN, HITTING THE ACFT. THIS WAS PRETTY LOUD, ESPECIALLY IN THE FORWARD PART OF THE ACFT. AFTER LNDG, WE WENT TO MEDICAL TO BE CHKED. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE CAPT RPTED THIS INCIDENT AS MODERATE TURB, BUT WE ALL THINK IT WAS PRETTY SEVERE. SEVERE ENOUGH TO TAKE A FEW FLT ATTENDANTS OFF THEIR FEET. CAPT COULD HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH US MUCH BETTER.
