Narrative:
During boarding, the cabin crew was told there would be a mechanical delay as aircraft maintenance was fixing something on the main landing gear. After about 1 hour they had finished, signed off on the logbook and the plane departed the gate. We took off and after approximately 5 mins to tell us that (XA37) the landing gear would not retreat and they were running through a checklist and would tell us if we're going to return to bos in about 5 mins. They called back and said yes we were going to go back and for us to do mental reviews of our evacuate/evacuation drills, but he thought that an evacuate/evacuation would not be necessary. Captain then told the passenger of the issue, also telling them that as a precaution emergency vehicle would be following the aircraft to the gate upon landing. All passenger and crew remained calm and we landed and taxied to the gate safely at XB34. All the passenger were rebooked and maintenance changed the problem part on the landing gear and the same cabin and cockpit crew ferried the airplane (no passenger) at XF03 landing in ZZZZ at XK03.
