Narrative:

Air carrier arrived at my gate with engine #1 CSD disconnect due to high temperature. Found #1 engine CSD oversvced with oil; drained; resvced to proper level. Reconnected CSD. Run up #1 engine; no high temperature indication; #1 engine operation checked normal; APU generator operations checked normal. Note: #2 engine CSD is on MEL during this event. Accomplished the procedures required by MEL on #2 engine CSD which is to check oil in APU and #1 engine CSD. Signed logbook off. Air carrier X departed ZZZ1 ok. Later that day the air carrier X had the same problem CSD high oil temperature on #1 engine in-flight. Air carrier X diverted to another airport. I feel that and was told that what I did to address the write-up was not wrong; but I did not check with maintenance control in the dispatch of this air carrier X due to the fact that it had #2 engine CSD on MEL. I was not aware of this rule. It has been told to me 'now' that any time that you have a major operating system on MEL and have a problem with the other you must go through maintenance control for the dispatch of the air carrier X.
