Narrative:

While level at FL190, we encountered what we believed to be wake turbulence. The result was the airplane banking in excess of 30 degrees. The turbulence was strong enough to cause the airplane's autoplt to disengage. During recovery to level flight, our altitude reached approximately FL193. ZNY did not question the change in altitude. I questioned ATC to find out what kind of aircraft we were following. ATC informed us we were 6 mi in trail of a B767. After telling ATC about the encounter with the wake turbulence, they provided us with more separation. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.
