Narrative:
Nosewheel separated from aircraft after touchdown. Pilot called st petersburg FSS, fl, for briefing at approximately XA00. Departed evb and received clearance from dab approach airborne. Talked to FSS over chs for WX update. Worked with potomac approach until cleared for the localizer runway 16 at ZZZ. Potomac requested a call for ceiling and braking after landing. Pilot called unicom and announced NDB inbound runway 16. Did not get a reply. After touchdown, main wheel separated from aircraft. The area where the aircraft initially touched down had been cleared. Pilot was advised by FBO that the airport was closed prior to landing. That was evidently the reason for no response on unicom. How did the closure completely slip through the system? Aircraft had a 1-4 inspection completed less than 12 months prior. Aircraft had a 6 yr gear inspection within the last 150 hours. Is there any means to put airports on the ATIS system?
