Narrative:
My first flight in a newly purchased bellanca super viking from ZZZ1 to ZZZ2. I had received 3 days instructions prior to flight, including 8-10 takeoff/lndgs. Landing approach for fuel at ZZZ was fine. At touchdown, the plane began a drift to right. Correction produced a drift to left, then swerved left to right. Ran off runway across area and onto taxiway. Taxiway light poked hole in fabric cover on right flap. No other damage. Noticed gear door on right side touching tire. A&P removed gear door. Next day flew to ZZZ2 with gear down. Gear check at ZZZ2 revealed no air in strut and bushings worn, allowing wheel to wobble back and forth. I feel this effected control on landing. Am having gear undergo intensive inspection and overhauling. This airplane was damaged by former owner's a&P on feb/wed/04. I took delivery on feb/sun/04 and had no reason to check condition of gear strut. Do not have report on possible leak at this time.
