Narrative:

CTAF (122.7) was congested with traffic from surrounding airports that use the same frequency: kgwi, 1FO, kwea, and kdto could all be heard in the area of kdto. There was so much activity on the frequency that nobody could make a complete radio call without having it cut short by someone else's radio call. There was danger of approaching the airport without knowledge of other traffic in the area. At one point, a pilot announced left downwind for runway 17 at kdto, but runway 35 was the active. It took several xmissions before I was able to be heard, and fortunately he heard me and confirmed his mistake. The frequency congestion on 122.7 has been a dangerous problem for some time now and needs to be remedied!

Title: AN AA5 PLT COMPLAINS THAT TOO MANY ARPTS ARE ON THE SAME FREQ AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO COMMUNICATE.

Narrative: CTAF (122.7) WAS CONGESTED WITH TFC FROM SURROUNDING ARPTS THAT USE THE SAME FREQ: KGWI, 1FO, KWEA, AND KDTO COULD ALL BE HEARD IN THE AREA OF KDTO. THERE WAS SO MUCH ACTIVITY ON THE FREQ THAT NOBODY COULD MAKE A COMPLETE RADIO CALL WITHOUT HAVING IT CUT SHORT BY SOMEONE ELSE'S RADIO CALL. THERE WAS DANGER OF APCHING THE ARPT WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF OTHER TFC IN THE AREA. AT ONE POINT, A PLT ANNOUNCED L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 17 AT KDTO, BUT RWY 35 WAS THE ACTIVE. IT TOOK SEVERAL XMISSIONS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO BE HEARD, AND FORTUNATELY HE HEARD ME AND CONFIRMED HIS MISTAKE. THE FREQ CONGESTION ON 122.7 HAS BEEN A DANGEROUS PROB FOR SOME TIME NOW AND NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED!
