Narrative:
Savannah ARTS/beacon system is unsatisfactory, coasting of ATC targets in all quadrants, but specifically east of savannah IAP. Beacon channel #1 and #2 both produce the same unsafe, unsatisfactory result. Tracks on final for runway 27 coast to drop list, but primary radar clearly tracks the aircraft. Savannah ARTS is no longer capable of handling (safely) the level of traffic in savannah. This coasting was the worst, most unsafe situation in my 10 yrs in savannah. Savannah's ASR 8 has digital capability and should be utilized via stars and not the antiquated ARTS system.

Title: SAV APCH CTLR CONCERNED WITH ARTS/BEACON RADAR SYS, CLAIMING LOSS OF CONTINUOUS ARTS TRACKING, ESPECIALLY ALONG THE ATLANTIC COASTAL AREAS.
Narrative: SAVANNAH ARTS/BEACON SYS IS UNSATISFACTORY, COASTING OF ATC TARGETS IN ALL QUADRANTS, BUT SPECIFICALLY E OF SAVANNAH IAP. SAVANNAH ARTS IS NO LONGER CAPABLE OF HANDLING (SAFELY) THE LEVEL OF TFC IN SAVANNAH. THIS COASTING WAS THE WORST, MOST UNSAFE SIT IN MY 10 YRS IN SAVANNAH. SAVANNAH'S ASR 8 HAS DIGITAL CAPABILITY AND SHOULD BE UTILIZED VIA STARS AND NOT THE ANTIQUATED ARTS SYS.
