Narrative:

After landing on runway 12R, I was asked where I was parking and replied 'FBO' which was to my left. I was instructed to turn left on taxiway K. However, I was going too fast to stop or turn at taxiway K and was then instructed to turn on taxiway left. Later I was told I was to turn right on taxiway left. I didn't hear the instruction to turn right, and turned left (towards my ramp). There was an A-36 sitting on the taxiway left and I had to slow and stop for a second to pass by the A-36 and at that time told to 'clear the runway' by the tower. As I started to do so, I heard the tower say 'Z go around.' after clearing the area, I was told to call the tower and then informed that I should have turned right and my failure to do so had caused an air carrier to go around. I was told that they would call and see if they wished to make 'an issue' of the event and I would be called back by the tower and told of the outcome. The tower called back about 2 hours later and told me the airline dropped the matter and that I needed to 'listen up' better in the future. I believe that the cause of this event was my focus on turning left towards my ramp, especially after being told to turn left at taxiway. I need to be more careful in listening and not assuming what I am going to hear. Also, however, I think the tower was packing them in a bit tight, as I was on the runway less than 1 min, but that is no excuse for me getting the taxi instructions wrong.

Title: RWY INCURSION BY THE PLT OF A LIGHT TWIN WHEN FAILING TO CLR RWY 12R IN TIME, TURNING THE WRONG DIRECTION AND CREATING THE NEED FOR A GAR FOR LNDG TFC AT HOU, TX.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 12R, I WAS ASKED WHERE I WAS PARKING AND REPLIED 'FBO' WHICH WAS TO MY L. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN L ON TXWY K. HOWEVER, I WAS GOING TOO FAST TO STOP OR TURN AT TXWY K AND WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO TURN ON TXWY L. LATER I WAS TOLD I WAS TO TURN R ON TXWY L. I DIDN'T HEAR THE INSTRUCTION TO TURN R, AND TURNED L (TOWARDS MY RAMP). THERE WAS AN A-36 SITTING ON THE TXWY L AND I HAD TO SLOW AND STOP FOR A SECOND TO PASS BY THE A-36 AND AT THAT TIME TOLD TO 'CLR THE RWY' BY THE TWR. AS I STARTED TO DO SO, I HEARD THE TWR SAY 'Z GO AROUND.' AFTER CLRING THE AREA, I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE TWR AND THEN INFORMED THAT I SHOULD HAVE TURNED R AND MY FAILURE TO DO SO HAD CAUSED AN ACR TO GO AROUND. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CALL AND SEE IF THEY WISHED TO MAKE 'AN ISSUE' OF THE EVENT AND I WOULD BE CALLED BACK BY THE TWR AND TOLD OF THE OUTCOME. THE TWR CALLED BACK ABOUT 2 HRS LATER AND TOLD ME THE AIRLINE DROPPED THE MATTER AND THAT I NEEDED TO 'LISTEN UP' BETTER IN THE FUTURE. I BELIEVE THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS EVENT WAS MY FOCUS ON TURNING L TOWARDS MY RAMP, ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING TOLD TO TURN L AT TXWY. I NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL IN LISTENING AND NOT ASSUMING WHAT I AM GOING TO HEAR. ALSO, HOWEVER, I THINK THE TWR WAS PACKING THEM IN A BIT TIGHT, AS I WAS ON THE RWY LESS THAN 1 MIN, BUT THAT IS NO EXCUSE FOR ME GETTING THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WRONG.
