Narrative:
From opf, after am departure on IFR flight plan and miami 8 departure, with winco transition. While climbing through 1000 ft AGL, suffered total electrical failure. Departed active runway 27R and circled back in VMC to cross runway 27R at approach end and transition past tower, received blinking green light, reversed course to enter left downwind for runway 27R. With steady green light and no other aircraft in sight, landed on runway 27R and taxied to FBO ramp. Tower controller sent pickup truck with person and cell phone to talk with me. Controller informed me, blinking green light, when I crossed over runway 27L, indicated I should have interpreted this as signal as clearance to land on runway 27L. I thought it meant proceed to previously indicated active runway 27R. I do not know if this is a reportable incident, as neither I nor my instructor have heard of this interpretation of the 'blinking green.'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL SUFFERED BY A C182R PVT PLT AFTER TKOF RWY 27R. ALLEGEDLY LANDS ON WRONG RWY 27R VERSUS RWY 27L AS PER TWR LIGHT CTL SIGNAL AT OPF, FL.
Narrative: FROM OPF, AFTER AM DEP ON IFR FLT PLAN AND MIAMI 8 DEP, WITH WINCO TRANSITION. WHILE CLBING THROUGH 1000 FT AGL, SUFFERED TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. DEPARTED ACTIVE RWY 27R AND CIRCLED BACK IN VMC TO CROSS RWY 27R AT APCH END AND TRANSITION PAST TWR, RECEIVED BLINKING GREEN LIGHT, REVERSED COURSE TO ENTER L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 27R. WITH STEADY GREEN LIGHT AND NO OTHER ACFT IN SIGHT, LANDED ON RWY 27R AND TAXIED TO FBO RAMP. TWR CTLR SENT PICKUP TRUCK WITH PERSON AND CELL PHONE TO TALK WITH ME. CTLR INFORMED ME, BLINKING GREEN LIGHT, WHEN I CROSSED OVER RWY 27L, INDICATED I SHOULD HAVE INTERPRETED THIS AS SIGNAL AS CLRNC TO LAND ON RWY 27L. I THOUGHT IT MEANT PROCEED TO PREVIOUSLY INDICATED ACTIVE RWY 27R. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A REPORTABLE INCIDENT, AS NEITHER I NOR MY INSTRUCTOR HAVE HEARD OF THIS INTERP OF THE 'BLINKING GREEN.'
