Narrative:

Flight attendant #1 called to advise me that a passenger had grabbed and twisted the arm of flight attendant #6 who requested that law enforcement meet the aircraft upon arrival at egll. An ACARS text request was sent and reported accomplished by dispatch. This passenger (idented as the occupant of seat in coach) was reported to have been walking between cabins and disturbing other passenger in defiance of repeated warnings by several flight attendants. He was reported to appear to be intoxicated and then to have fallen asleep. I directed flight attendant #1 to prepare and issue the in-flight passenger disturbance form and suggested that she consider identing and alerting passenger of appropriate physique to assist should restraint subsequently become necessary. As we approached the coast of ireland, I was advised that the disruptive behavior had resumed and included shoving 1 flight attendant and forcing open an overhead compartment so that some oxygen masks were hanging. I directed flight attendant #1 to get assistance and to attempt to restrain him. Several mins later (in obvious and fairly severe distress) she reported that a number of such attempts had failed and that the situation was getting out of hand. I initiated a diversion to land at eisn about 1 hour short of egll. During our descent, it was first reported that he had been restrained and then that he was no longer restrained. Law enforcement personnel met the aircraft upon arrival and took 2 individuals into custody. It was at that time that I learned that the occupant of the seat in coach was also involved and had been the one who released the oxygen masks. The auths required statements from 4 involved flight attendants and from me. While that was being accomplished, their bags were located and removed and the flight was continued to egll. Upon arrival at egll, another statement was taken from flight attendant #1 by company security personnel and copies were made of our statements to eisn auths. Flight attendant #1 was rptedly injured in the struggle to subdue the passenger and I recommended that she be examined by competent medical staff before leaving the airport.
