Narrative:
Cleared to crg, deviate as necessary, direct when able. Had not reported direct to crg yet. Controller questioned WX deviation prior to our direct report. As we turned to go direct to crg, controller said left and right deviations for WX didn't mean 50 degree turns. This was on frequency 127.47. I told controller we were deviating for WX and did not want to argue with him as he was very busy. The deviation was given to us by the previous controller. I think there was a misunderstanding between the 3 of us.
