Narrative:
At about top of descent into bos, we received an ACARS message from our dispatcher stating that a shipper had apparently put a dangerous item in a package shipped on our aircraft. We were subsequently told that it was some sort of material with a very low flash point that had been inadvertently put in a package for air shipment. Since we were already descending into our destination, we proceeded there. After landing, the item was removed without incident.
