Narrative:
I was the relief pilot. As we applied takeoff power, the left engine failed. We aborted the takeoff at less than 50 KTS. Ran the appropriate checklists, taxied back close to the gate and was towed in.

Narrative: I WAS THE RELIEF PLT. AS WE APPLIED TKOF PWR, THE L ENG FAILED. WE ABORTED THE TKOF AT LESS THAN 50 KTS. RAN THE APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS, TAXIED BACK CLOSE TO THE GATE AND WAS TOWED IN.
