Narrative:
We were operating from cle. We were issued taxi instructions by ground control to follow a jet from the gate to runway 24C for departure. It is a very short taxi and we were running checklists. The other jet was cleared for takeoff and we were cleared into position and hold. The first officer read back the instructions and continued the checklist. As we crossed runway 24L and the hold bar for runway 24C, tower asked us where we were going. The first officer and I both thought we were to follow the other aircraft to runway 24C. Apparently, the tower was expecting us to take runway 24L. Tower then cleared us to taxi into position and take off on runway 24C. A very short taxi and busy cockpit environment as well as a last min change not emphasized by the tower, led us to the wrong runway and across the hold short line.

Title: FLT CREW OF CL600 MISUNDERSTOOD CTLR CLRNC AND CROSSED RWY 24L AND ENTERED RWY 24C AT CLE WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: WE WERE OPERATING FROM CLE. WE WERE ISSUED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS BY GND CTL TO FOLLOW A JET FROM THE GATE TO RWY 24C FOR DEP. IT IS A VERY SHORT TAXI AND WE WERE RUNNING CHKLISTS. THE OTHER JET WAS CLRED FOR TKOF AND WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD. THE FO READ BACK THE INSTRUCTIONS AND CONTINUED THE CHKLIST. AS WE CROSSED RWY 24L AND THE HOLD BAR FOR RWY 24C, TWR ASKED US WHERE WE WERE GOING. THE FO AND I BOTH THOUGHT WE WERE TO FOLLOW THE OTHER ACFT TO RWY 24C. APPARENTLY, THE TWR WAS EXPECTING US TO TAKE RWY 24L. TWR THEN CLRED US TO TAXI INTO POS AND TAKE OFF ON RWY 24C. A VERY SHORT TAXI AND BUSY COCKPIT ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS A LAST MIN CHANGE NOT EMPHASIZED BY THE TWR, LED US TO THE WRONG RWY AND ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE.
