Narrative:
During our flight from atlanta, we received and acknowledged a climb clearance from 14000 ft to 23000 ft or 24000 ft (I don't remember which). Shortly after initiating our climb, we received a TCASII TA followed by an RA (monitor vertical speed). PF leveled off while I queried ATC. There appeared to be some confusion at ATC as to our location or altitude and we were instructed to level off at 15500 ft. We were then given a frequency change. The new controller gave us a climb and we continued to destination. Soon after the conflict, we heard another flight with a similar call sign number. I believe that we were either given instructions for that flight or mistakenly answered to his instructions. We had not been warned of a similar call sign on frequency.

Title: A CL65 FLT CREW RECEIVE A TCASII RA AFTER DEPARTING ATL AND LEVELED OFF AT 15500 FT. A QUESTION OF SIMILAR CALL SIGN RESPONSE.
Narrative: DURING OUR FLT FROM ATLANTA, WE RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED A CLB CLRNC FROM 14000 FT TO 23000 FT OR 24000 FT (I DON'T REMEMBER WHICH). SHORTLY AFTER INITIATING OUR CLB, WE RECEIVED A TCASII TA FOLLOWED BY AN RA (MONITOR VERT SPD). PF LEVELED OFF WHILE I QUERIED ATC. THERE APPEARED TO BE SOME CONFUSION AT ATC AS TO OUR LOCATION OR ALT AND WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO LEVEL OFF AT 15500 FT. WE WERE THEN GIVEN A FREQ CHANGE. THE NEW CTLR GAVE US A CLB AND WE CONTINUED TO DEST. SOON AFTER THE CONFLICT, WE HEARD ANOTHER FLT WITH A SIMILAR CALL SIGN NUMBER. I BELIEVE THAT WE WERE EITHER GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR THAT FLT OR MISTAKENLY ANSWERED TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS. WE HAD NOT BEEN WARNED OF A SIMILAR CALL SIGN ON FREQ.
