Narrative:

Immediately after accepting the climb clearance to 13000 ft I heard an alert warning. Looking at the EFIS I saw that the oil pressure indication for the right engine was highlighted in red, and the numerical presentation was showing a decrease. Shortly thereafter, the pressure was showing as zero. The first officer was flying and reduced the thrust on the right engine. I declared an emergency and we advised ATC that we were returning to lax. We were given vectors, and upon advising them that we wanted to dump fuel, were vectored well offshore. We completed the appropriate checklists and I then advised the purser of the situation. I advised him not to prep the cabin, that this was a cabin advisory. I sent a message to dispatch briefly outlining the situation, and letting him know that we were returning to lax. I then told the passenger of the situation, using the PA system. The first officer continued to fly the airplane (he was using the autoplt) while we discussed the single engine landing procedures. ATC vectored us to the runway 25L ILS approach, which we completed without incident to a normal (as normal as it could be using 1 engine) landing. Taxi in and parking were uneventful. Supplemental information from acn 623402: we circled north with vectors north of santa catalina island until dumping down to maximum landing weight. We finished all the appropriate checklists and asked each other if we missed anything.

Title: RETURN AND LAND BY A B777-200 FLT CREW AFTER NOTING THE R ENG OIL PRESSURE LOSS AFTER TKOF. EMER NOTED WITH ATC, DUMPED FUEL AND PERFORMED A 1 ENG INOP APCH AND LNDG AT LAX.

Narrative: IMMEDIATELY AFTER ACCEPTING THE CLB CLRNC TO 13000 FT I HEARD AN ALERT WARNING. LOOKING AT THE EFIS I SAW THAT THE OIL PRESSURE INDICATION FOR THE R ENG WAS HIGHLIGHTED IN RED, AND THE NUMERICAL PRESENTATION WAS SHOWING A DECREASE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE PRESSURE WAS SHOWING AS ZERO. THE FO WAS FLYING AND REDUCED THE THRUST ON THE R ENG. I DECLARED AN EMER AND WE ADVISED ATC THAT WE WERE RETURNING TO LAX. WE WERE GIVEN VECTORS, AND UPON ADVISING THEM THAT WE WANTED TO DUMP FUEL, WERE VECTORED WELL OFFSHORE. WE COMPLETED THE APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS AND I THEN ADVISED THE PURSER OF THE SIT. I ADVISED HIM NOT TO PREP THE CABIN, THAT THIS WAS A CABIN ADVISORY. I SENT A MESSAGE TO DISPATCH BRIEFLY OUTLINING THE SIT, AND LETTING HIM KNOW THAT WE WERE RETURNING TO LAX. I THEN TOLD THE PAX OF THE SIT, USING THE PA SYS. THE FO CONTINUED TO FLY THE AIRPLANE (HE WAS USING THE AUTOPLT) WHILE WE DISCUSSED THE SINGLE ENG LNDG PROCS. ATC VECTORED US TO THE RWY 25L ILS APCH, WHICH WE COMPLETED WITHOUT INCIDENT TO A NORMAL (AS NORMAL AS IT COULD BE USING 1 ENG) LNDG. TAXI IN AND PARKING WERE UNEVENTFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 623402: WE CIRCLED N WITH VECTORS N OF SANTA CATALINA ISLAND UNTIL DUMPING DOWN TO MAX LNDG WT. WE FINISHED ALL THE APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS AND ASKED EACH OTHER IF WE MISSED ANYTHING.
