Narrative:
While flying the JHAWK5 arrival into mci, there was some confusion about the way the diagram is designed and drawn. The way the information for rugbb intersection is located (directly below the symbol for noahs intersection) can give the impression that rugbb is located at noahs. Both cockpit crew members made this mistake. ATC told us that many other aircraft turn to a heading of 010 degrees at rugbb instead of noahs, as we did. After a short discussion with the ATC controller, we agreed that page is drawn up poorly and can lead to some confusion, as it did in this case. I would recommend the following changes: 1) move the information for 'top' due north of that VOR. 2) move information for rugbb, northwest of that intersection. 3) move information for noahs to its east or southeast. No conflict with any traffic or other problems noted. Aircraft landed normally with no assistance and flight ended uneventfully.

Title: AN MD80 FO ARRIVING MCI ON THE JHAWK5, RPTED THAT HE MADE A TRACK DEV DUE TO MISLEADING NOMENCLATURE NEAR THE RUGBB INTXN, AND THAT TRACON STATED THIS IS A RECURRING PROB FOR OTHER ACRS.
Narrative: WHILE FLYING THE JHAWK5 ARR INTO MCI, THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ABOUT THE WAY THE DIAGRAM IS DESIGNED AND DRAWN. THE WAY THE INFO FOR RUGBB INTXN IS LOCATED (DIRECTLY BELOW THE SYMBOL FOR NOAHS INTXN) CAN GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT RUGBB IS LOCATED AT NOAHS. BOTH COCKPIT CREW MEMBERS MADE THIS MISTAKE. ATC TOLD US THAT MANY OTHER ACFT TURN TO A HDG OF 010 DEGS AT RUGBB INSTEAD OF NOAHS, AS WE DID. AFTER A SHORT DISCUSSION WITH THE ATC CTLR, WE AGREED THAT PAGE IS DRAWN UP POORLY AND CAN LEAD TO SOME CONFUSION, AS IT DID IN THIS CASE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: 1) MOVE THE INFO FOR 'TOP' DUE N OF THAT VOR. 2) MOVE INFO FOR RUGBB, NW OF THAT INTXN. 3) MOVE INFO FOR NOAHS TO ITS E OR SE. NO CONFLICT WITH ANY TFC OR OTHER PROBS NOTED. ACFT LANDED NORMALLY WITH NO ASSISTANCE AND FLT ENDED UNEVENTFULLY.
