Narrative:
Flight of 4 F18's were on a vector for the KC135 tanker. The F18's mistook a radar target of 2 A10's as the tanker and turned and descended at the A10's which were 4000 ft below the tanker's altitude.

Title: ZBW CTLR DESCRIBES LOSS OF SEPARATION WHEN MIL FLT MISIDENTED TANKER, DSNDS AND CONFLICTS WITH OTHER TFC.
Narrative: FLT OF 4 F18'S WERE ON A VECTOR FOR THE KC135 TANKER. THE F18'S MISTOOK A RADAR TARGET OF 2 A10'S AS THE TANKER AND TURNED AND DSNDED AT THE A10'S WHICH WERE 4000 FT BELOW THE TANKER'S ALT.
