Narrative:
Flight attendant reported door 5R slide pressure low to maintenance, also notified cockpit of same. When I inquired about time frame they told me it would be replaced during boarding. When my first officer went to put the discrepancy in the logbook he found it had been already entered by the inbound crew on flight ZZZZ-sfo and also signed off as repaired in the maintenance computer. Until maintenance was informed by our flight attendants and questioned by us there was no indication that any corrective action was going to be taken. I asked to speak to a maintenance supervisor. It was clear since we had possession of the logbook the whole time that the inbound write-up had been signed off without any maintenance being done to the door. This is a clear violation of the law and inexcusable. I am glad it was addressed satisfactorily in the end but it certainly was a violation of company policy as well as the far's. The door 5R slide pack was replaced and we departed with all paperwork in order. I informed the maintenance supervisor that I would file this report.
