Narrative:
Returned to lax with ill passenger. Landed the airplane overweight, but not sure if we declared an emergency. We should have declared emergency for overweight landing and I'm submitting this as soon as possible in case we did not. Landing in lax uneventful. Supplemental information from acn 628132: shortly after departure, the flight attendants notified us of a passenger having medical difficulty and a registered nurse on board who was attending to the passenger felt the passenger was in distress. The captain elected to return to lax for medical assistance. We notified ATC that we had a 'medical emergency' and returned for an overweight landing. The landing was very smooth and maintenance inspected the airplane finding no damage. The captain and I aren't sure if we actually declared an emergency for the overweight landing or if the medical emergency covered us.

Title: A B737-800 FLT CREW RPTED THAT A PAX ILLNESS CAUSED THEM TO RETURN TO LAX WHERE THEY MADE AN OVERWT LNDG.
Narrative: RETURNED TO LAX WITH ILL PAX. LANDED THE AIRPLANE OVERWT, BUT NOT SURE IF WE DECLARED AN EMER. WE SHOULD HAVE DECLARED EMER FOR OVERWT LNDG AND I'M SUBMITTING THIS ASAP IN CASE WE DID NOT. LNDG IN LAX UNEVENTFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 628132: SHORTLY AFTER DEP, THE FLT ATTENDANTS NOTIFIED US OF A PAX HAVING MEDICAL DIFFICULTY AND A REGISTERED NURSE ON BOARD WHO WAS ATTENDING TO THE PAX FELT THE PAX WAS IN DISTRESS. THE CAPT ELECTED TO RETURN TO LAX FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. WE NOTIFIED ATC THAT WE HAD A 'MEDICAL EMER' AND RETURNED FOR AN OVERWT LNDG. THE LNDG WAS VERY SMOOTH AND MAINT INSPECTED THE AIRPLANE FINDING NO DAMAGE. THE CAPT AND I AREN'T SURE IF WE ACTUALLY DECLARED AN EMER FOR THE OVERWT LNDG OR IF THE MEDICAL EMER COVERED US.
