Narrative:
Problem was brought to my attention by supervisor discovered by maintenance records. Subject was airworthiness directive special inspection. On feb/sun/04, we were issued a new airworthiness directive special inspection. After reading description and inspection instructions and looking at figures on the rudder front spar was idented as aluminum based on what we thought needed to be inspected. Identing it as aluminum we north/a (not applicable) all step following inspection portion, per description on front page as noted. Aircraft X has had special inspection revision #2 accomplished on aug/wed/04. Si has since been revised for clarity and mechanics have been made aware of inspection specifics.

Title: A B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE ON THE RUDDER FRONT SPAR ACCOMPLISHED INCORRECTLY DUE TO UNCLR PAPERWORK.
Narrative: PROB WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTN BY SUPVR DISCOVERED BY MAINT RECORDS. SUBJECT WAS AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE SPECIAL INSPECTION. ON FEB/SUN/04, WE WERE ISSUED A NEW AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE SPECIAL INSPECTION. AFTER READING DESCRIPTION AND INSPECTION INSTRUCTIONS AND LOOKING AT FIGURES ON THE RUDDER FRONT SPAR WAS IDENTED AS ALUMINUM BASED ON WHAT WE THOUGHT NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED. IDENTING IT AS ALUMINUM WE N/A (NOT APPLICABLE) ALL STEP FOLLOWING INSPECTION PORTION, PER DESCRIPTION ON FRONT PAGE AS NOTED. ACFT X HAS HAD SPECIAL INSPECTION REVISION #2 ACCOMPLISHED ON AUG/WED/04. SI HAS SINCE BEEN REVISED FOR CLARITY AND MECHS HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF INSPECTION SPECIFICS.
