Narrative:
Our aircraft was being vectored and set up for runway 22 in elp. The captain asked approach to change the runway to runway 4. Approach approved a visual approach for runway 4. As the PF I started to turn away from the airport because of our proximity to the airport. The captain asked what I was doing and I told him I felt we were too close. He stated that he wanted to keep the aircraft close. He instructed me to turn toward the airport, get the aircraft down to GS intercept, configure and we would make it. We did configure but we were too close and fast. The captain instructed me to do an 'south' turn to bleed off speed. On completion of the tight 'south' turn, I was not over the runway. The engineer requested to go around. Before I could respond, the captain said 'I got it' and took the aircraft. He landed the aircraft hard. On postflt inspection the engineer alerted the captain and myself of the wingtip damage. I feel as though the captain over-corrected to land the plane on the centerline. The go around should have been executed to eliminate such an event. Also, I as PF, I should have either not accepted the runway change or relinquished the controls to allow the captain to do this approach that I was not comfortable with.

Title: LGT CARGO ACFT STRIKES WINGTIP ON HARD LNDG FOLLOWING AN UNSTABILIZED APCH.
Narrative: OUR ACFT WAS BEING VECTORED AND SET UP FOR RWY 22 IN ELP. THE CAPT ASKED APCH TO CHANGE THE RWY TO RWY 4. APCH APPROVED A VISUAL APCH FOR RWY 4. AS THE PF I STARTED TO TURN AWAY FROM THE ARPT BECAUSE OF OUR PROX TO THE ARPT. THE CAPT ASKED WHAT I WAS DOING AND I TOLD HIM I FELT WE WERE TOO CLOSE. HE STATED THAT HE WANTED TO KEEP THE ACFT CLOSE. HE INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN TOWARD THE ARPT, GET THE ACFT DOWN TO GS INTERCEPT, CONFIGURE AND WE WOULD MAKE IT. WE DID CONFIGURE BUT WE WERE TOO CLOSE AND FAST. THE CAPT INSTRUCTED ME TO DO AN 'S' TURN TO BLEED OFF SPD. ON COMPLETION OF THE TIGHT 'S' TURN, I WAS NOT OVER THE RWY. THE ENGINEER REQUESTED TO GO AROUND. BEFORE I COULD RESPOND, THE CAPT SAID 'I GOT IT' AND TOOK THE ACFT. HE LANDED THE ACFT HARD. ON POSTFLT INSPECTION THE ENGINEER ALERTED THE CAPT AND MYSELF OF THE WINGTIP DAMAGE. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE CAPT OVER-CORRECTED TO LAND THE PLANE ON THE CTRLINE. THE GAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXECUTED TO ELIMINATE SUCH AN EVENT. ALSO, I AS PF, I SHOULD HAVE EITHER NOT ACCEPTED THE RWY CHANGE OR RELINQUISHED THE CTLS TO ALLOW THE CAPT TO DO THIS APCH THAT I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH.
