Narrative:
During approach into aspen we extended the landing gear for a visual approach. Right after the gear extended, a master caution and the #2 engine hydraulic pump lights illuminated. Hydraulic gauges were referenced and the #2 engine hydraulic pressure and quantity were indicating zero. The gear that were previously extended indicated down and locked. Delayed vectors were requested. ATC was notified and an emergency was declared. Flight attendant was notified and the passenger were briefed. Dispatch was notified and they relayed messages to our cpr office. Our company flight manuals were referenced and complied with. After all checklists were run, we made a normal visual approach with a circled to land aspen runway 33. Upon landing, the aircraft was stopped on the runway. Engines were shut down and pins were placed in the landing gear to prevent retraction. The aircraft was towed to the gate and the passenger were allowed to deplane.

Title: ON VISUAL APCH TO ASE AFTER GEAR EXTENSION, FLT CREW OF DHC8-200 EXPERIENCE LOSS OF #2 HYD SYS FLUID AND PRESSURE. LAND SAFELY UNDER EMER CONDITIONS AFTER APPROPRIATE DELAYS FOR ACFT AND PAX PREPARATION.
Narrative: DURING APCH INTO ASPEN WE EXTENDED THE LNDG GEAR FOR A VISUAL APCH. RIGHT AFTER THE GEAR EXTENDED, A MASTER CAUTION AND THE #2 ENG HYD PUMP LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. HYD GAUGES WERE REFED AND THE #2 ENG HYD PRESSURE AND QUANTITY WERE INDICATING ZERO. THE GEAR THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY EXTENDED INDICATED DOWN AND LOCKED. DELAYED VECTORS WERE REQUESTED. ATC WAS NOTIFIED AND AN EMER WAS DECLARED. FLT ATTENDANT WAS NOTIFIED AND THE PAX WERE BRIEFED. DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY RELAYED MESSAGES TO OUR CPR OFFICE. OUR COMPANY FLT MANUALS WERE REFED AND COMPLIED WITH. AFTER ALL CHKLISTS WERE RUN, WE MADE A NORMAL VISUAL APCH WITH A CIRCLED TO LAND ASPEN RWY 33. UPON LNDG, THE ACFT WAS STOPPED ON THE RWY. ENGS WERE SHUT DOWN AND PINS WERE PLACED IN THE LNDG GEAR TO PREVENT RETRACTION. THE ACFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE AND THE PAX WERE ALLOWED TO DEPLANE.
