Narrative:

En route at FL340; the autoplt kicked off. The captain took control of the aircraft after a loss of 500 ft and leveled off; realizing we had a stabilizer trim runaway. We notified ATC of the altitude loss and requested a lower altitude. Seatbelt sign was turned on and the QRH for stabilizer trim runaway was completed; requiring a landing at the nearest suitable airport. We declared an emergency and began being vectored to the final approach. We contacted maintenance; dispatch; the flight attendant and made an announcement to the passenger. We landed uneventfully in ZZZ.
