Narrative:

When ready to taxi in sjc, we were facing sbound on taxiway Z, just north of F intersection with taxiway Y. Ground told us to taxi to runway 30R via txwys F and Y, with no mention of other ground traffic. As we started our turn at taxiway F, the copilot cleared and told me to stop very emphatically. I stopped very suddenly, only to see a regional jet pass just off our nose on taxiway Y. We said something to ground control and he was immediately very apologetic, realizing that he had not told us about the other aircraft, which we could not see until starting the turn. The passenger were fine, but the flight attendants were banged around in the cabin, since they were standing. After talking to the flight attendants, and being assured that they were okay to continue, we continued our taxi and took off. Upon arrival in sea, we debriefed with a flight attendant supervisor. The flight attendants were already starting to get stiff necks and become sore. Supplemental information from acn 629806: as it was we cleared each other by an estimated 75 ft.
