Narrative:
On the arrival into ZZZ, we descended to FL240, reaching FL240 the #1 engine failed. We declared an emergency with ATC, completed the engine failure and shutdown checklist and attempted the in-flight engine start checklist. The engine failed to start and continued with the one engine inoperative landing checklist. Our flight attendants were advised of the emergency and plan for a normal landing. The company was also advised. First officer made an announcement to the passenger that there was a small problem with one of our engines and that after landing, we would have some vehicles near us after leaving the runway and not to be concerned. After landing (ZZZ runway 25R), we taxied to gate where maintenance met the aircraft.
