Narrative:

On initial contact, pilot was issued the following clearance: 'air carrier X, austin departure, radar contact. Turn right heading 070 degrees, intercept and resume the austin 1 departure, climb and maintain 12000 ft.' the aircraft flew this heading for several mi, then turned towards the cwk VOR instead of flying the ATC assigned heading. When queried, the pilot stated that he was flying the departure procedure.

Narrative: ON INITIAL CONTACT, PLT WAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING CLRNC: 'ACR X, AUSTIN DEP, RADAR CONTACT. TURN R HDG 070 DEGS, INTERCEPT AND RESUME THE AUSTIN 1 DEP, CLB AND MAINTAIN 12000 FT.' THE ACFT FLEW THIS HDG FOR SEVERAL MI, THEN TURNED TOWARDS THE CWK VOR INSTEAD OF FLYING THE ATC ASSIGNED HDG. WHEN QUERIED, THE PLT STATED THAT HE WAS FLYING THE DEP PROC.
