Narrative:

Departing teb runway 24, via the teb 5 departure. The co-pilot was flying and climbed early on the departure. We were heading 280 degrees at 1500 ft, then climbed to 2000 ft at approximately 2.5 DME. The SID required 1500 ft until the teb 4.5 DME. The controller told us not to climb any higher, then a vector, and further climb clearance. We never had a conflict. My not closely monitoring the other pilot caused this deviation. I was running checklists and switching radios, until we already climbed too early.
