Narrative:
As I applied takeoff power the captain and I heard a loud bang. I reduced the power to ground idle. The captain and I both looked out the windows (side) to see what it was and saw nothing. The captain then asked me to add a small amount of power on the engines to see what happens. I did and on the #2 engine sparks were coming out of the exhaust so I told the captain I was shutting down the #2 engine and he agreed. I shut down the engine (#2).
