Narrative:
On left engine start, as egt approached start limit, start was aborted. Egt was 578 degrees C for 1 second or less. Wind was 20 KTS with gusts up to 27 KTS directly up the tailpipe. Aircraft was repositioned with nose into the wind and a completely normal start was accomplished on both engines. Dispatch was notified of aborted start information via ACARS. No reply was received, so flight was continued. Almost immediately after takeoff text reply received that the flight was a no-go. Dispatch was contacted by radio on climb out and subsequently agreed that we should continue the flight. No further problems ensued and flight arrived at lax on schedule and with normal fuel reserves. Supplemental information from acn 633413: after 8 mins with no response and not finding any prohibitions in the manual, the captain elected to take off. Once airborne we received a 'no go' message via ACARS from dispatch saying we had exceeded a 545 egt limit.

Title: AFTER A HOT START OF THE L ENG DUE TO STRONG TAILWINDS, FLT CREW OF B757 RESTART ENG AND FLY FROM HAWAIIAN STATION TO LAX. FAIL TO ADDRESS THE HOT START WITH DISPATCH OR MAINT PRIOR TO TKOF.
Narrative: ON L ENG START, AS EGT APCHED START LIMIT, START WAS ABORTED. EGT WAS 578 DEGS C FOR 1 SECOND OR LESS. WIND WAS 20 KTS WITH GUSTS UP TO 27 KTS DIRECTLY UP THE TAILPIPE. ACFT WAS REPOSITIONED WITH NOSE INTO THE WIND AND A COMPLETELY NORMAL START WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON BOTH ENGS. DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED OF ABORTED START INFO VIA ACARS. NO REPLY WAS RECEIVED, SO FLT WAS CONTINUED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF TEXT REPLY RECEIVED THAT THE FLT WAS A NO-GO. DISPATCH WAS CONTACTED BY RADIO ON CLBOUT AND SUBSEQUENTLY AGREED THAT WE SHOULD CONTINUE THE FLT. NO FURTHER PROBS ENSUED AND FLT ARRIVED AT LAX ON SCHEDULE AND WITH NORMAL FUEL RESERVES. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 633413: AFTER 8 MINS WITH NO RESPONSE AND NOT FINDING ANY PROHIBITIONS IN THE MANUAL, THE CAPT ELECTED TO TAKE OFF. ONCE AIRBORNE WE RECEIVED A 'NO GO' MESSAGE VIA ACARS FROM DISPATCH SAYING WE HAD EXCEEDED A 545 EGT LIMIT.
