Narrative:
At ord, inbound crew had 2 write-ups: landing light and aft trash compactor. Both were deferred. I checked deferral sticker for the landing light and it did not have the deferral number. I asked mechanic and he came up and gave us another sticker. I then went back to check deferral of trash compactor. This also had a sticker with no deferral number so I used the mrd and wrote it on myself. Today at ZZZ, in-flight ZZZ-ord, the landing light was deferred and it, too, had no deferral number on the deferral sticker, so once again I used the mrd to write it on. The last crew obviously did not see this and flew it in without this information. So in short, on the last 2 flts I have done, 50% of the deferrals did not have a deferral number on the deferral sticker.
